4 Fabric Camera Strap DIY Tutorials

Image
A cute fabric camera strap has long been on my List of Things I'd Like to Make. This week, I came across two new tutorials online that have reminded me of this project and maybe bumped it up a few notches on the list. No matter how many projects I do, this list just never gets shorter... This is the classic strap one I'd been thinking of making... Fabric Camera Strap - Tutorial by Make Something This one has the added benefit of having a lens cap pocket. Clever! Camera Strap Cover with Lens Cap Pocket- Tutorial by Little Big Girl Studio This tutorial for a shorter strap caught my attention, as it's definitely how I prefer to hold my DLSR, usually with the long strap all curled up around my wrist a kazillion times... Wristlet Camera Strap - Tutorial by Being Geek Chic And last, but not least, this one is also awfully cute... Perhaps for fancy dress occasions? Scarf Camera Strap - Tutorial by Photojojo

Ikea from Above

Image
Remember these lovely photos from Ikea's Homemade is Best cookbook? ( Was this ever available in English? / Are there plans for that? )  The photographer for that project, Carl Kleiner, has done more beautiful aerial work for Ikea, this time focusing on tableware. I love how familiar objects can be transformed into elegant, almost abstract patterns . You can see more photos from both project on Carl Kleiner's portfolio .

Mini Vancouver

Severe cuteness alert. Much like the fake model photography ( blogged about before), this video of Vancouver makes the city look oh-so-tiny and oh-soooooo-adorable. The video was created by dangerous68 (his YouTube name), who's also made a  Mini LA . He created the film using time-lapse photography shot with a tilt shift lens, inspired by the work of Keith Loutit .  Check out  Keith Loutit's website  or Facebook page  to see a whole bunch more cute-ified locations he's filmed for his  Small Worlds Project.

Sweet Feet!

Image
It doesn't beat the real thing, but if you're impatient (like me) to get your paper copy, you can flip through sample pages from Issue 6 of Uppercase magazine online . It looks choco-block FULL of interesting and inspiring articles! I'm ALSO excited ( again! ...or rather, still! ) cause not only are my feet in the magazine, so are my sweetie's! We're the couple with our feet in the water, standing on pebbles. He took that pic on the way back from a fabulous road trip to the Okanagan last summer.

My Feet... in Uppercase Magazine!

Image
SO EXCITED! Uppercase magazine just posted some sneak peek photos of Issue #6... which includes my photo! And my feet! And my shoes! That's me (and my shoes) on the first page of the article. Photo by Uppercase Photo by Uppercase Uppercase put out a call for submissions for "shoegazing" photos... and mine made it into print! I cannot wait to get my hands (and feet?) on a copy! It should arrive just around the same time as the new yellow shoes that I ordered! Sweet!

Making a Quilt from Photos

Image
Here's a fun project from the fabulous Victoria & Albert Museum in London.... V&A's Patchwork Pattern Maker. Just upload a photo and the Patchwork Pattern Maker will create a custom quilt pattern for you! You can even use images from the V&A's collections , which is pretty awesome. The results can end up quite abstract or detailed, depending on the image you choose, plus how many squares and colours you want to use. Check out the gallery to see what patterns people have already created - at least virtually. It would be interesting to see some of the finished, fabric results! If you're looking for a comparable program to make knitting patterns from photos, have a look at  MicroRevolt's KnitPro application for creating custom intarsia patterns for knitting. How lovely are these photographs by Etsy seller Patina Photography ? Vintage wooden spools are simply irresistible. As is her colour palette. What's more, the photos are printed on metallic paper . Prints ( metallic prints!) are available to in Patina Photography's Etsy shop .
